Girdler's Cafe

I have a mate who is doing a fun run a month for 2012, the February run was on the Northern beaches of Sydney from Dee Why to Manly. As a post run breakfast we went back to Dee Why to Girdler's Grind.

My Soy Latte was served with a chocolate coffee bean an was a nice smooth coffee, some Baristas can really mess up the Soy but this one really hit the spot.

Meals at Girdlers are usually the French Crepes'. My mate had the butter, lemon and sugar ($5.50) while I went for the bacon, spinach, egg and chunky tomato sauce for ($11).

Ampersand Cafe and Bookstore

I've walked/driven past Ampersand Cafe Bookstore on my way to somewhere else and never had the time to stop off. Today was a rather lazy, and rainy, Saturday and after two photography exhibitions I needed a sit and a coffee.

This place is a whole lot bigger than I had thought and is definitely a place I'd love to come back too. Three levels of books with the middle section mainly taken up by cafe stuff is what makes up this place. Comfy seating is on all levels with the top and lower levels having dining table areas to eat the meals they manage to churn out in that small kitchen, be warned that the kitchen closes at 3pm on weekend but snacks are still available.

Snacked on my gigantic brownie and good coffee that wasn't burnt like most soy is, while reading a Helen Razor book I ended up getting.

The book shop is in a three story terrace house. Seating of comfy chairs and dining tables, for those having a meal, are on the top floor or in the basement.

'Berries' on my way home. I remember eating ones like these as kid. I don't think you are really supposed too and these ones looked pretty funky.

Of Our Elaborate Plans, The End

Final few days of the 365 project. Thought I would be able to finish of the whole project by posting everyday. Obviously that plan fell through.

A staple for my High School lunches was a frozen Orchy bucket. Ma works at Little Bro's canteen so I am still able to get my fix. In preparation for the coming run I thought I should stock up on 'ice bricks' to keep my pre and post run snacks cool.

Bit of a pain to eat - 08/02

Maybe I'll write a more in-depth post about this at a later date. Basically I have been wearing this around my wrist for a year. I'm aware that it is a just a length a wool by I have managed to instill so much emotion and meaning into wearing it that I do feel a bit odd when I have to take it off (mainly Netball related).

Loopsy - 09/02

Got the Laser serviced. This gave me the opportunity to hang about King St and do a few things I have never found the time for. Such as a visit to A Coffee and a Yarn in Newtown. There is some knitting supplies there with wool and books. I just wanted to sit down have a coffee and get some done on a scarf that I had been working on for awhile. E gave me the wool over a year ago, a wool she had dyed herself and I wanted to make a good scarf for myself with. It has been on needles for at least 6 months. They have lesson and a drop-in style assistance thing every second Wednesday.

Stockinette - 10/02

With the run the next day I thought it best I do absolutely nothing. Lay about and did some reading of some books that have been sitting on my table for ages. I got this books as a 2009 Christmas present from P. So far it is good. A little violent, didn't know what I was expecting though.

Capote - 11/02

I took the first photo of this project at the opening ceremony of 2010 Chinese New Year Celebrations. So maybe I should have ended this project on the 11th February. I think it would be more exciting to finish off with a more momentous event like a 5km run with 10 obstacles through mud. The Warrior Dash had it's first Australian event at Glenworth Valley on the 12th and I thought I'd give it a good Aussie Go!

It was hard! I found it pretty hard anyway. I didn't do any training because of my injuries in the past few weeks. I think I found it particularly hard because I don't really like to run, I get bored, the only way I find I can power on is by listening to music. Electronic equipment not exactly advisable when you have to walk through mud and swim across creeks, although some ran their cameras anyway.

Some random Warriors - 12/02

I think I may do it next year... perhaps. Def will train leading up to it and not wear long pants next time. Not exactly definite plans but I'll put it on the To Do list.

Now to figure what to do with the blog for the next post

This Way To Progress

Had more of my nectarines and yogurt. This time with apricots and honey! I rarely eat honey. I love that it comes in a bear shape. If only it didn't have that large label. He looks like he is staring into the distance. Reminds me of one of those Communist Propaganda posters.

Onwards - 29/01

Had a somewhat productive but still quick lazy day. Did some reading to try and make a dint in my stack of 'to read' books. Went to the library to find some audio books. Nearly finished of a scarf I am knitting for me. Most importantly I treated myself to a coffee and choc brownie from a cafe near home.

Crunchy yet smooth - 30/01

It went way to quickly.

Ssslleeepppp

First day back at uni. I had an early start and did my best but fell asleep when my lecture put a video on in the second half. Curses! The subject is a combination of sociology and art history so I am a bit keen and the video was about a Melbourne artist originally from Poland. Can't tell anymore then that cause I was for about 20 during the key moments.

Should of had this before... 02/08

The good coffee guy was in so I got a good coffee, a little bit empty but not burnt *bonus.

Its all a shambles.

ALWAYS remember batteries. A few times I went to take a photo only for it to crash. Why are the battery people sooo happy. Can only people that have children be happy with their photos? And who powers their computer/mouse with a battery?

Pffft, power - 20/05

GIR from Invader Zim. My friend Melo liked this show. Went and saw her in Canberra a few years ago and watched a massive amount of eps.

GIR, kickin it in Newtown - 21/05

My sister had her 30th birthday party on the 22nd. I forgot my camera at the party. Sat the 22nd was my 100th photo day. I took a few photos on her camera but did get any back. I did stop on the way down to take a photo of 100.

Technically not the 22nd. Only a few hours short though. - 22/05

EDIT: Just got a photo sent through of my sisters birthday cake. I did take this photo so this is my photo. I'd like to learn cake decorating, another thing to add to 'The List'.

Birthday Cake - 22/05

Helping my brother make an Italian flag for his school presentation.

Raphael - 23/05

I confess... next photo was not taken on this day. Yikes. Terribly sorry. Really tired. It's of Macquarie Lighthouse in Vaucluse. It was one of my 'on the fly' photos. I liked the blue and white contrast.

All a lie! - 24/05

Fell asleep at my comp today whilst writing my assignments. Did the ol' just resting my eyes thing. My screen is on 20min hibernation. My resting of eyes went for a while then.

soooo sleepy... - 25/05

There were other better ones of me but they didn't include the coffee cup, my increasingly large amount of paper cranes and Band of Brothers. War, or more appropriately based on true story films, help me sleep. Another goodie being JFK.

Can't wait for this semester to be over.

I've been slack...

Whoops, been a little busy neglectful.

Paste-up in Newtown - 24/03

Went to Soppho Books in Glebe to talk to my fellow 'Intimate Sphere ' course presenter for an assignment. I ordered a coffee (best I've had in ages) and... awwww.

How appropriate - 25/03

Speech done, and I'm outta here. On way to Narrandera which would be my base whilst taking in the festivities at Ardlethan Races. Drive was great. Loaded my iPod with 'Stuff You Should Know' podcasts. Also did the usual taking photos whilst driving. I don't get why my camera can take good photos while I'm driving 100Kph down the freeway, but gets a little blurry when I take a photo of someone kicking a ball???

Hume Highway, maybe near Gundagai - 26/03

And the big day came. My first 'A-Town'. Didn't take as many good photos as I had originally wished. Looking at the collection it would seem I was on my own, didn't take any photos really of the people I was with. Had a great day, didn't bet on anything. Checked out the fashion which was a mixed collection.

The only race I watched all of  - 27/03

After an epic day and night on Saturday my original plan to go to Adelong was put off till a later date. Had a lazy day on Sunday. Went and saw the Hankinson Memorial Fountain in Narrandera. It was made by Royal Doultan and given as a gift to the community as a memorial of those who dies in WW1. There is the same fountain in Karachi Pakistan

Top part of fountain - 28/03

Got back late on Sunday. Went to my cousins and finally took in Avatar at the picture theatre. Quite a good movie. Managed to keep my 3D glasses this time.

Lookin kewl - 29/03

Many missed opportunities to take photos and many that turned out blurry means that I won't really be going on any adventures to take photos any time soon, pointless. Lost many photos because of slow shutter speed and resolution. My camera still takes great still images, if the subject moves all comes undone.

Carry Moonbeams home in a jar...

Uni day. Got up fine. Even left early so I would be relaxed. But I drove which meant that I got stuck in the stoopid peak hour traffic and ended up arriving the same time that I normally do if i drive. More time for me to sing along to my iPod.
What could be the most pathetic excuse of a Latte

It wasn't given to me that way. I did get nearly 10cm of foam on the top, which I got to eat with a paddle pop stick. Incredibly disappointing. The coffee there was good last year, gone down hill. Two crosses so far.

Sorry for the sideways. My camera and computer are not friends and sometimes they won't talk and allow me to rotate photos. Just wondering who would actually spend $30 on these from Target got to hurry quick because right now they are on sale....

Moon Boots !!!

I like food that act like people. Food with smiley faces and arms and stuff. Saw these at Woolies, I already have Jam though. Damn it!

Drawing Jam makes breakfast more fun!!!

It's a late one

Had an average day at uni, another sleep in day by accident. Just don't know why I can't seem to wake up. Got to uni about 10 mins after my class had started and realised that I forgot my cupcakes. They were not working anyway, must add more coffee next time.

Didn't have any cash so I decided to go to Macquarie Centre to get my fill of coffee, wandering and cash.

Got my coffee, very very average and it had burnt milk. It was from the food court so really can't expect too much.

There was a group of five older ladies at the table near me with a small tin of those ladies that Nan would usually have, I don't think anyone even had one. Just got me thinking. I wonder how long they had been friends for, what these ladies were like when they were younger etc.

My attempt at covert photography - 12/03

They were using full on hand gestures, I must of taken the photo at a more serious moment of the convo.

Also, I forgot to put my yesterday photo up yesterday.

I went for a walk around St Stephen's Anglican Church in Newtown, which is one of Sydney's oldest cemeteries. There is a wall joining St Stephen's to Camperdown Park that has heaps of graffiti, not paste-up or paintings. Just general writings. There is a lot of political stuff written on the wall.

Some good advice - 11/03

"Ask Questions. Twilight is Shit". I wonder if they are by the same author.
