You could stretch right up and touch the sky

I can understand how some may find sunsets/sunrises boring, it is after all just an everyday occurence. I find it... invigorating. May be a little extreme. I find that it gives me clarity and peace to watch the sunset. It happens everyday. I guess it makes me feel that all is good and right and no matter what is happening there will always be this constant event. I feel the same about clouds.

There is no real current crisis that makes me what to got to get my fill of weather. Just been hectic and run down. I have read a few places that Curl Curl looks great at sunset. Arriving there, knowing it was a beach in Sydney, forgetting that it is at the base of a hill. Saw this rocky head jutting out inbetween Dee Why and Curl Curl and pushed the Silver Bullet onwards to an adventure.

Curl Curl beach with City in the back - 26/04

Got there just before the setting sun. It was a nice place to watch it and I would like to go back just for a wander about.

I main place I would like to watch sunset would be from Gladesville Bridge. I drive that way home from Uni sometimes and you can see all the way to Harbour Bridge, beautiful view.

On the way back I saw this sign. Gigantic stick figure will jump about on mountains and knock the top off. This sign should be posted on the way in so people know there are falling rocks. Or people doing star jumps.

Happy person on a mountain

Chillin' out, maxin', relaxin' all cool

My assignments are done! Hopefully less word-y from here on. I got my spell-checker back which means I can go back to my true illiterate roots. Woo Hoo!

Mum food - 22/04

Mum gave me a few meals when I went after Easter. Generally can't eat curries (I can't eat spicy spices) This one has a good amount of flavour without sending me into conniptions. Having a rough busy week and it was nice to eat 'Mum food' and see the little heart.

Chris had birthday drinks at The Vanguard, one of his favourite bands Collard Greens & Gravy were on. It was great, awesome musicians. They are 'hypnotic, foot-stomping country blues' (Myspace). Fairly accurate I would say, found myself giving my feet a bit of a stomp.

Collard Greens and Gravy - 23/04

The epic days continue and I started to get quite weary and a bit spacey. Tak was having birthday drinks at Manly Wine Bar. Nice place, fantastic decorating which was very in line with Gazebo.

On the way there I saw this guy, Lewis, hanging out in the park with his mates Cpt. Dolphin and Sir Lamb. The animals were kitted out in weird outfits. Lewis looked like he had a saucy glint in his eye that screamed 'photograph me'. I was happy to oblige.

Saucy Minx - 24/04

I wanted to catch the 430 ferry mainly so I could see the clouds as the sun was setting. Alas, the weather was against me. To dark and grey for my little camera to push and take good one.

Its going to be a stormy one!

Uni is cool, it makes you smart and stuff

Keepin' it brief, keepin' it real, keepin' it street... cause that's how I roll.
And, I'm sick of seeing dumbass spelling mistakes on previous posts, makes me feel like a fool. Write less means have to check less. What? find the spell check or just learn to write properly, whatever.

Have been pulling some awesome late shifts at uni recently, because I love it here. Hmmm, nah. Read the outline wrong and now an assignment that I thought was going to be sooo easy that I wouldn't have to start till the last minute cause it is only worth 20%. Turns out to be massive and worth 40%.

To top this off I lost my reading glasses. Now i sit in the library like a pirate reading with one eye shut. Forgetting a lot, misreading a lot. Went to doctor to ask
'is it usual to be having withdrawal affects from quit smoking for this long?'
"well, everyone is different" *said in a smug tone for maximum effect
'but isn't 3 months a little too long???'
Hope this will change I'd hate to think I'm going to be a dumbass for the rest of my life. Maybe I've always been this way and through my smoking I somehow managed to transform myself into someone with an awesome memory.... By smoking I mean cigarettes, just so you don't think I'm talking about crack or something. I'm not cool enough for that.

Back on track (I lose my train of thought now too, ramble more... my sentences in brackets get bigger. Is poor grammar a side effect of not smoking???)

Spooky spooky. Uni at night - 20/04

Another day at Uni. Crap, have never spent this amount of time here before. Maybe that is why I'm having to spend so much time here now. *reflections on past mistakes...

Drove to uni clearly cause I don't care about the environment and living and uni-ing so close to public transport still isn't convenient enough. And I listen to my iPod while I drive. Devious.

I downloaded some podcasts for my drive to Narrandera and my iPod likes to mix it up by changing the album artwork. This time I got 'Milkshake' from the groundbreaking album "Tasty" by the lyrical genius Kelis and the artwork of 'Stuff You Missed in History Class'. It is isn't the greatest podcast the other one 'Stuff You Should Know' is Better.

21/04 - iPod madness

Ooohh, I do wonder where I am???? Guess? Uni, aww yeah. I am currently still trapped in the confines of the building actually. Yeah 'writing' my essay. I sit here and thought "Why not just update the blog, you have some cool photos and the Internet is right there being all free, available and saucy. Use it up". I caved.

The stimulating library environment - 21/04

I'm lucky to even have a table. Got it at 5pm when most people have to find a power point and some carpet. I talk like it is a shoddy uni. There is a new library being built. Note the Lipton tea can there??? I bought that for a little pep. I don't drink soft drink, to fizzy for me. It's in a can though and I bought it from the vending machine. As it came hurtling down the caverns of the machine about to spill forth into the empty and unforgiving retrieving vessel, it occurred to me what would happen to this metal container filled with somewhat gaseous liquid. Alas, I was too late as smashed onto the metal underbelly of the vending machine.
No drama, just had to wait a bit.

Should stop writing crap here and continue to write crap on the ol assignment. What is it on I hear you ask...

PS I changed the screen before I took that photo, when I was about to take it I was really watching videos of the Fully Sick Rapper

I'll be brief

I have taken my laptop to uni to use the Internet. The dropouts and slow speed got the better of me.

Quick update - I am suppose to be the typical mature age student (failing at that though) and be quite studious and up to date with my studies.... I'll be brief.

Fri Night - Tony's birthday. Philadelphia Grand Jury at Oxford Arts Factory.
John Steel Singers were the 'warm-up' band (do they even get a 'warm-up band anymore, I never hear it...)
Awesome. Great Night I said it was going to be quick. Guess that just means I use more full stops.
My camera again shows its true colours and refuses to take a clear picture. Night goes on into the wee hours. I pike half way at approx 430AM. Which is kind of a normal night except I was going to have to work the next day. DA DAHHH!!! *spooky somewhat ominous music.

MC Bad Genius showin us what he's got - 16/04

Early hours and I have little money for a cab all the way home. I get out a bit early. Ends up being a 20 min walk. Took a photo of the crossing sign to tell you to look for cars hurtling towards you. I read it as look right as in look correct. I wonder if I look/perceive things correctly. Little deep for 430AM????

Thoughts??? - Technically 17/04. It was 430AM and I was a little rough on Sat.

Saw this picnic set in a window in Newtown. It was a shop window not just any window. No price. The shop didn't even look open. My parents got one of these for some reason, some event. In lime green. Nothing same safe food at room temperature at a BBQ like lime green does. I confiscated it and put it into the trusting caring hands of my sister. Who lovingly looks after it for me. Interior is the same. Except I don't have the flasks and only one lunch box and only one of the locks closes properly. It is old. Thought these would be worth a mint. Ebay has only had one history listing and it didn't even go for $20.

Picnic King - 18/04

Uni is back. Awww crap! Didn't do nearly as much as I wanted to, or even should have. We have lovely grounds here at Macquarie Uni. When I got the acceptance pack it even mentioned at length how lovely the grounds were. Didn't mention a thing about the lack of computers, piss poor excuse for a library search engine, high fees, low parking.... but the grounds *sound of birds chirping. Seriously, I do like it here. It's a good uni. I'm doing pretty good here even if my spelling and grammar is crap. Usually I have spellcheck to pick me up on it (I have still lost my Blogspot spellcheck).

anyhoo,

Some sort of smoke signal was being sent to me over the park. I couldn't decipher it as I was getting confused by where the fountain stops and the smoke starts. They do burning off over there. Over there being the National Park place, which one... dunno. Get back to me. That's your homework.

Look at the grounds... - 19/04

I tried to be brief but I will always be a rambler

Insane Asylum

Boi howdy have I been slack... again. Kinda have the excuse that it is because the internet is on a go slow. It takes ages to upload photos and even load pages. Sheesh.

Got my hair cut a little bit shorter. This time she mentioned having an undercut.... errrrr nah! Told her no dice. Apparently it does suit me. I have never had random people just compliment me before. Just random 'I like your hair' walks away.

Arrived a little early to the hairdressers which is on King St so I went for a walk. Saw this house which had a hand written sign in the front window 'Insane Asylum' it said. And a stack of VHS on the fence????

The Asylum - 13/04

Met up with Ellie at The Oaks again. She is off an an overseas posting for work and I am not doing anything as exciting as that. We actually went upstairs this time for a wander about. I nicked some lollies from the pokies room too. They were in a jar label free for guests, but it makes me feel devious to use the word 'nicked', makes it sound more dangerous.

Nice stairwell - 14/04

Hadn't seen Emma in what felt like an eon. I decided to bring a dessert. Em is lactose free. I like to make 'special' food for friends, I like to search to find something interesting and it also means that I have some limitations which helps in my planning. I finally found out what Ambrosia is and was going to make a vegan Chocolate and Avocado cake. What!! Yeah, didn't though. Used way to much avo for me to test on a friend it does look good though. In the end I settled on a Nanna dessert. High in fruit and texture, not too intense on flavour. I will make this again. Must learn to trust my instincts more often in cooking. I make this stuff knowing it won't work, but go along with it because it has been printed somewhere which must mean that it is truth... It needed more mixed spice in the cake, top was good. Would taste better with some ice-cream, custard or a yogurt I spose, basically needed some added wetness.

Apple and Almond cake - 15/04

Spiky Fruits

Since I first worked at a supermarket and saw all the different types of fruit I have been saying that I will try all the different fruits in Summer. Again, this Summer I didn't try any new ones.... dang!

I like the Asian fruits, so interesting looking. DragonfruitCarambola (Star Fruit) etc. Didn't make any jams or fruit butters either.

Nearly the end of summer, am sure if I did my fruit shopping at a real fruit place I would have better luck than my luck at Coles Leichhardt.

The last of the interesting fruit - 11/04

Uninteresting day. Hung around, did some reading and stuff. Left my clothes washing till late in the day. Put on all my towels and was going to go to the gym after it was done. The washing machine is against me, I repel technology. It kept stopping at the rinse stage (unbalanced) and repeatedly during the spin. Meant I had to go around Newtown finding a cheap washing machine. Some charge $10 flat to use the machine!

A paste-up near my laundromat - 12/04

At least my clothes are washed and drying now. Some weirdos do walk around the city at night, people muttering to themselves or just yelling at the city.

We just wanna dance...

I had intended to post my photo a day at the end of everyday, maybe it's better to be doing this in blocks anyway. Makes me feel like I'm doing more with my time. Hmmmm.

Bin went to Thailand. I asked for a pair of fisherman pants (which I can't work out, will have to find an online tutorial *slaps forehead) and a Thai beer shirt. I got a 'Singha' beer singlet. It said size XL. Sheesh! It is actually quite snug, well fitted. Good spotting and sizing on that one.

Mate and pure water - 06/04

Went to dinner at The Bomaderry Bowling Club on the Wednesday night. Heads up $5 meals on Weds nights, wink wink. Got a ride home in the Bomo courtesy bus. I was a back seat bandit with the kids. Took a selfie of Max and I whilst Lil Wayne was ripping it up on the radio.

Back-seat bandits - 07/04

Culburra on the Thurs. I read that the weather was going to be lows, around 21 the whole time I was there... lucky I had recently received a new singlet to wear on the Thurs.

The steep steps to the rocks - 08/04

The kids 'collected shells', which means Mum collected shells. The kids wanted to glue them onto a canvas, they wanted to copy a dodgy gift I had given to Mum a few years ago.

My shell contribution

A quick game of quoits was had in the back yard on the Fri as I was preparing to leave. I always intend to leave early. I really don't like to drive during the day on my own so the leaving time is usually put back till night anyway. For the record I did not get any hoopy thingos over the stick thing in quoits. I have bad aim.

Sportsperson of the year - 09/04

Loading the car I noticed some of the drawings the kids had made in the driveway. A slice of pizza, a dolphin and a horse.

Kids drawings

Got home on Friday at about 8pm. I had to work at 6am this morning which was why I had wanted to leave early. Still, I didn't get to sleep till about 230am!!! Then it was up at 445 (had a bit of a sleep in) for work. I haven't had a nap and am still quite awake right now like I had a good nights sleep. I go through bouts of this, it does get to a point though where I cease functioning.
Whinge!

Instead of having a sleep (which was what I wanted) I went to the Surry Hills Festival after work. It was an all day affair. I didn't get there until 4ish. I caught a bit of Paper Scissors, and would like to see them again. Didn't see that much as the sun was making me weary. The festival was split in two. Paper Scissors were at Shannon Reserve on Crown St, I moved to Ward Park hoping it would be shadier (in light not dealings).

Much better. Better stalls, better people (chilled out) and I could sit and watch Jonathan Boulet. They only have one CD and this is the second time I have seen them. I will again next month too at Groovin' The Moo. I do like their music which is handy.

The crowd did get more excited - 10/04

all over by 6pm

Still get used to un-daylight savings. I was going to go to bed at 8pm tonight, thinking that that was normal bedtime. Must push on get into some sort of routine.

It's getting colder

My old flatmate used make paper cranes a lot. I wanted to learn but never bothered to ask her to teach me. When I went into the cit a few days I ago I went into one of those Japanese shops called Morning Glory and found some of the little paper boxes with instructions.

The instructions were written in Japanese, so I found a website.

My first paper crane - 04/04

I folded it with the colour of the paper on the wrong side and it does look a bit mashed. I have a growing collection on my desk now.

After taking many many photos of clouds (mostly whilst driving) I thought I should go and actually watch a sunset. Today was a crappy day and it had rained periodically throughout the day, I thought the clouds would be good because of this. Checked the times, decided to go to Glebe Point Park. When I got there I realised that I would just be looking at the other side of the river which is mainly industrial and boring.
Onwards, for an adventure with only 20 mins to spare. Ended up in Five Dock at a park called Halliday Park. Just in time.

Sunset - 05/05

Walking back through where I assume the water occasionally rises to but didn't today. I found these guys.
Don't know what they are. They were squishy and fairly consistent in size.

Squishy rings

Now I'll have to get up early to watch the sunrise. Maybe to Watson's Bay...

Dogs, Dogs and a guy on a ladder.

I had to work early Thurs and then finished off and handed in an assignment after work. So, by the end of the day I was stuffed! Instead of re-reading some of the essay I would be handing in I decided t flick through the paper. I used to work at the coffee place at Central Station and there was a homeless guy who would write comments in the articles. Sometimes to the journo, occasionally at the subjects. Found the paper at work and someone had been doing it there too, although they were not as committed or as funny as the homeless guy.

This one reads: "I'm not your average bear. ha ha ha ha!" It's a story about a winner of Crufts which was a dog called Yogi. Hmmm, made me chuckle a little.

Yogi in the Sydney Telegraph - 01/04

Good Friday! I went to the Hoopla thing at Darling Harbour. After getting off the bus at Town Hall I walked past Ivan at the QVB and someone had places in his little paws an Easter egg and a plum????

Ivan the talking, plum eating dog - 02/04

Checked out the circus acts for a bit but the masses became a little overwhelming for me so I went to Maritime Museum. They are having a Mythic Creatures exhibition at the moment. It was an alright museum, I didn't go on any of the boats though as it was getting late and was a little expensive for me at $32. The standard exhibition pieces were pretty good and interesting. I would like to go back and spend a little more time there.

Pegasus, maker of Ouzo (read that o the back of an Ouzo bottle years ago) - 02/03

Back outside and I got to watch Stalker, a group that does beak dancing and acrobatics on stilts. This photo is from where they went up this ladder and spun around doing a bunch of stuff that was possibly a lot more impressive form the front. Still 'twas great.

Climbing da ladder - 02/04

Feelin like CRAP today. Really flat. Don't wanna do anything. Want to lay in bed and just mehhh.

Had to venture out, a day to match my mood - 03/04

MUST remember to turn my clock back before I sleep tonight. I have to work at 6... in the AM!!!! Which is like 5AM in normal time????
