I Get Knocked Down...

Forgot my camera... what an idiot. Had a mega day planned with Bin and my Niece. Started of with lunch at East Ocean for Yum Cha. I had heard that this is tha place for Yum Cha in Sydney and so it made it's way onto The List. Maybe I just enjoy the fan fare of Yum Cha more than the food. East Ocean does not have the trolley thing anymore, just order and it gets delivered. Good food though.

Next stop was Hyde Park Barracks, one of my favourite museums in Sydney. Then a brief tour through The Rocks and a guided tour through Susannah Place Museum, mostly unchanged since they were built in 1844. My Niece seemed to enjoy these museums but this was probably overshadowed by ending up at Luna Park. Think I pulled them throughout Sydney on a 10km walk!

 Susannah Place - 19/01

We spent Bin's last day of her Sydney 'holiday' at IKEA! I ended up finally buying a bedside table. Much needed. For the evenings activities I met up with some of the girls I play Netball with of a Thursday night at Forresters Hotel in Surry Hills.I went the classic Fish and Chips. Oddly it came it a bamboo steamer... This was the first time I had ordered something of their actual menu and not just one of the $5 meals which was not on offer the night we went there.

Crunchy with only a hint of salad - 20/01

Friday was Scace's birthday drinks! Started of at Sussex Hotel. The place looks on to Bangaroo so it pretty much has an unbroken skyline, kinda. I did take other photos but most were on other peoples camera or of nothing on mine. Why does this happen???

 Being all artistic - 21/01

What did I do on sat the 22nd of Jan? Sat around. Decided I should buy a cheap hat to wear at Big Day Out on Weds. Drove to Bondi Junction Westfields, still holds Aly's '#1 Worst Car park in Sydney' title, close second is Rhodes car park especially when trying to find IKEA pickup. Could not find a worthy hat. Started to drive home. Got a call from P. Went to her house. Tried to take a photo of a spider in the front yard and got what you see below. Nothing. It looks as though they grow corn in their front garden. Don't think they do though.

 Spiders (?) - 22/01

I have way to many clothes for someone who pretty much has the same items on heavy rotation. Bought some new coat hangers for those unused clothes which will hopefully entice to wear them and decided to re-do my wardrobe. Intending to throw stuff out but did not. I own a lot of pinks and heaps of dresses. Both I did not realise until I started to sort.

 Nothing changed - 23/01

I finally bought a new bedside table. I didn't want one with draws. Mainly because my old one was holding stuff I rarely use. Hair straightener??? Have had short hair for a year. Am thinking of growing it again... (tangent) The old one was a gift from my ex. Think I may of wanted/needed it. I did not, however, need nor want the Lazy Susan he gave me as an anniversary gift a few years later... romance.

Sup. Check out tha whiteness - 24/01

Hat was bought for Big Day Out from a cheap shop! Realised at about 930 at night that I would need a bag. Huzzah! I shall make one. I made a lined messenger style one strap bag. But with the strap was on either side thus stopping any would be thieves stealing all my important trinkets. This does work when then straps are put on correct. If a 'This is me wearing' photo is requesting suppose I could get to posing and put one up. Bag worked well and allowed me to create a minor dint in my sewing stash.

The straps are wrong... don't sew!!! - 25/01

Big Day Out was massive! I went on the Australia Day one. Heaps of bands seen. Nearly 3 litres of water downed before sunset. Four applications of sunscreen and still managed to get an unusual sunburn. Huge day. So big I an unable to summarise in a short sentence, or in a single photo.

The masses - 26/01

I really wanted to see Sia as I had heard that she will be taking some time off touring, confirmed the day after BDO. So I missed the start of Rammsteins set. Wish they were on separate times. Sia is quite funny, very chatty wish I could have stayed for more. We saw some fireworks which later found out it was to blast off the sheet fully covering Rammstein's stage. During Du Hast there were some more fireworks and flames and finally a giant canon shooting out white flakes which I understood to be a penis... Possibly one of the best sets I have ever seen and I only got half of it!

Flames are hard to photograph - 26/01

Netball. I stacked it. Major stack. Left ankle went both sides. Crunch. Crunch. Fell over onto knees. And elbows. And wrist. I felt OK. It hurt but I could stand on it. I am an arse. I also filled in for a friends team on Tues. Stacked it there too. It was an indoor court with floorboards, I'm used to cement. Managed to bruise my left front calf... what is that called???

That's a major lump on the right knee - 27/01

So, I went to work. It wasn't that bad when I went to bed. Bit of a pain to try and sleep. Sunburn on back from BDO, cuts on knees and a bruised elbow made finding an OK position crap. After a few hours standing at work I had to go home. Not a major sprain (I'm no Doctor though).
.
The film probably makes it look more dramatic - 28/01

New years resolution should have been to make posting regular. I still haven't made any. Anyone out in the interwebs have an interesting one to lend me while I try and figure one myself????

Sew Fresh and Sew Clean

As part of my 30 Days Has September I decided to finish off all of my 'To Mend' clothing. That is the clothing that I wish to change into other things, or needs to be fixed.

 Stacks o fabric - 26/09

In descending order we have a large blue kaftan thing with 'gold' embroidery. A hot pink, raw silk, box-pleat, knee length size 6 skirt. An XXL green and yellow pinstripe short sleeve business shirt. Size 14 Broideree white dress. Already altered polyester blue long sleeve dress (with shoulder pads!). Nursing home uniform style shade of blue cotton dress, possible size 18. Halter neck dress.

I have plans for each of these. It has just been finding the time (and desk space) to finish them off.

Woke up in the morning to find a birthday gift left for me from E! Super cute wrapping paper. I do have a thing for animals acting like people.

gifts! - 27/09

Inside was a sewing book I have wanted for awhile. It was an import so I must have put the contents out of my mind because I was pleasantly surprised by the projects. Thanks E, Chris and Will.

And inside...

Make My Way Back Home When I Learn To Fly

I could not find my Sept 11th photo! So much delays were had until I figured obviously I didn't take a great photo cause I can't remember it now... So here is a photo taken from my new camera that I got on the 23rd Sept. It's like time travel!

Bus stop - 11/09

As part of my 30 Days Has September thing I decided to try to complete some of my 'To Do' sewing projects. This was a size 6 hot pink raw silk box pleat knee length skirt. The skirt style is kind of at odds with the colour and material. I made a head band from the waist band and am making a skirt from the skirt... a shorter one though.

Wee bit to small - 12/09

Finally had a blood test for my incredibly sick state. Takes a week to get back apparently. He thinks I have the flu. Still no drugs for me though.

Kinda of like giving blood... - 13/09

Part of my 30 Days thing was to do a Hip-Hop dance class. Went along with M and learnt a whole routine to Boom Shake Tha Room - Will Smith. It was at Sydney Dance Company. Had a great time!

Word! - 14/09

Tired from 'shakin tha ass'. This is a petrol station in Newtown. Nothing fantastic. Just two conflicting signs advertising the same thing at different prices, depends on what direction you come from I guess.

Its a car wash - 15/09

Had my cards read at Marly Bar in Newtown with BB. I haven't had my cards read before so didn't really know what to expect. I had some good news and it was a great chance to catch up with BB.

My future - 16/09

Still really tired. Sleeping lots. My bruise is lookin kinda funky, kinda gross. Doing a lot of resting in prep for the run!

It looks worse in real life - 17/09

Cooks River near the airport. High UV. Much pollution in them there waters. Not my fav place in Sydney.

Mmmmm - 18/09

Race Day! I had stop training a few weeks ago. I think I did my last bit of training on the first of Set (judging on photos). Doctor told me to chill out, relax, take a load off etc. Woke up on race morn with a crackin headache. I did pretty well. My time was 1:01:38, I did the 9km Bridge Run. Paced myself by running and when I got tired I walked, when I got bored I ran. Until about the 6km mark where I cracked the shits and wanted something to eat and go home. Think I would do it again next year.

My super special medal - 19/09

Some days are just boring. I do washing. Originally I took colour photos until I realised I had a lot of black on the line and many many socks.

Hangin - 20/09

Fare welling Pinko at the airport. Met him to hang out whilst he lined up to check in and wait for his flight. Felt weird after I left that I won't be seeing him for at least a year. May of gotten a little teary after he left, or not. Whatever. A few beers were had while soaking in the serenity of the bar.

The slightly disappointing observation deck - 21/09

Quite a quick goodbye at the departure gate thing where he goes and stands on the other side for another hour. Many people crying and upset. I wanted a pic of just me but forgot to ask Pinko and didn't want to ask a stranger and then walk away from the gate.

Good Luck!

It's business time.

I made a skirt! I made a skirt from a shirt... how nifty am I.

Sassy - 13/07

I'd show a before picture but I'm pretty sure most people know what a XXL business shirt looks like. I put an elastic waist in it because I think I will mainly be wearing it like in the pic and I couldn't be bothered to do a waist band actually. Makes me look like I have large-ish hips I think.

I went everywhere for you, I even did my hair for you

Eurovision party on Sunday night. Called Ma for advice on the Butterfly Cupcakes I was going to take, inject a bit of Australiana into a European night. She told me the winner... thanks Ma. I made my outfit, because thats how I roll. I decided to go as a group and had a few ideas but it all depended on what I could by and alter.

Not a passenger on the Mayflower - 30/05

I went as a member of the opening act of the 1982 Eurovision song contest... Portugal's Doce with their disco hit 'Bem-Bom'. Couldn't find a sparkly cowboy suit so it was more of a homage.

Doce!

Uni, sometimes I want to kneecap you. I like the documentation side of this blog except when I look back at all the boring ass uni shit. I literally did not do much else on Monday. Here is 40 000 windows and tabs open for my criminology essay which is on Medicalisation, I'll be focusing on Eugenics and sterilisation. What a bunch of crazy ass people they are. One website compared sterilising a 'deranged' woman to forcing a child into school, they will both be grateful in the end. We need to stop these people from hanging about in doorways mumbling to themselves, that is from the website. The definition of who is actually 'deranged' is never stated. I'd link to it but I don't really want anymore promotion for that crap. They don't even bullshit factual evidence. Quoting 'Newspeak' from "1984" as a kind of back up to the claim of doing this for future generations.
Anyways...

Also have open there Band of Horses Myspace page, gave that a few rounds, there are some comments down the bottom which have music on them, so turn them off first . A list of dodgy movies to buy at JB whilst on sale.

Quite the multi-tasker - 31/05

Driving over the Gladesville Bridge after a late one at uni and I decided to see how to get onto the bridge for my sunrise. In the direct middle of the photo is the Harbour Bridge and of course to the left city and so on.

Ahhh, lights - 01/06

I ran up there and ran back... yep. Pri-tay cool I am. Decided to take a few photos on the fly.

Gladesville Bridge

They look like balloons or stick figures on their side.

I have had the winning song in my head constantly.

Winter's cold is to much to handle

I was in Canberra Saturday night for the Groovin The Moo concert which was on Sunday. I was introduced to Chat Roulette and after many weirdos we 'met' this guy and his mate. Antonio from Spain, told him I would add him on FB am yet to do that.

Taking a photo of Antonio and I - 08/05

Groovin The Moo at University of Canberra was a chillsome affair. Started the day with Jonathan Boulet, third time and it feels like I'm stalking. They were a hit with the underage set (many orange wristbands) and the lay-deez did go a little wild when Jono danced and lifted his guitar. They had an extra drummer who I thought was in Sherlock's Daughter but can't confirm. Great set and was better received than the Surry Hills Festival set a few weeks ago.

Blondes not welcome it would seem - 09/05

The whole day was great. Got fairly pushy after Tegan and Sara for some reason??? I was going to miss Miami Horror because I don't really know their stuff but others wanted to see them and I had a tip that they were pretty good.

Multi-tasking Miami Horror singer

Concert was on a Sunday and there was an epic drive back to Sydney afterwards. Getting back late and having an early start on Mon meant that I didn't do anything really on Monday. This is some fabric that Nan gave me. I like it but think the print it to large for clothing, I think it will have to be a blanket. Have had it for 2 years and still can't cut into it.

Swans??? - 10/05

Completely unintentional... I decided to take a photo of all the cranes I have been making today. I cut my hand today at work. Dropped a cup and caught it as it smashed. That was waaayyy to boring to post. At least this is something I have been working on. It also gave me ideas for trying to take staged photos.

Paper Cranes - 11/05

Goes well with Nan's fabric. There are not that many I guess. I have them sitting on my stereo speaker and I fold some when I want a break from writing and studying. Thinking about your wish whilst making them and reaching 1000 apparently makes it come true. I don't think that works if the wish is 'do well at uni'.
