We Can Take What Was Wrong and Make it Right

Super quick dinner and drinks last week were had at Mr Fox on Crown St Surry Hills.

I had the Espresso Martini, between $13-16 and a tasting plate for two which was about $26. Really cool place. The drinks were great, good atmosphere. The menu we had was a children's book with the menu pasted inside! The food however was very avg. Most of my shared tasting plate was left over because it missed the mark in so many ways and my mates burger was burnt and dry.

It's a fairly new place. I'd go again for the drinks and hopefully the food will pick up in a time. No website, heaps of reviews online though.

I Get Knocked Down...

Forgot my camera... what an idiot. Had a mega day planned with Bin and my Niece. Started of with lunch at East Ocean for Yum Cha. I had heard that this is tha place for Yum Cha in Sydney and so it made it's way onto The List. Maybe I just enjoy the fan fare of Yum Cha more than the food. East Ocean does not have the trolley thing anymore, just order and it gets delivered. Good food though.

Next stop was Hyde Park Barracks, one of my favourite museums in Sydney. Then a brief tour through The Rocks and a guided tour through Susannah Place Museum, mostly unchanged since they were built in 1844. My Niece seemed to enjoy these museums but this was probably overshadowed by ending up at Luna Park. Think I pulled them throughout Sydney on a 10km walk!

 Susannah Place - 19/01

We spent Bin's last day of her Sydney 'holiday' at IKEA! I ended up finally buying a bedside table. Much needed. For the evenings activities I met up with some of the girls I play Netball with of a Thursday night at Forresters Hotel in Surry Hills.I went the classic Fish and Chips. Oddly it came it a bamboo steamer... This was the first time I had ordered something of their actual menu and not just one of the $5 meals which was not on offer the night we went there.

Crunchy with only a hint of salad - 20/01

Friday was Scace's birthday drinks! Started of at Sussex Hotel. The place looks on to Bangaroo so it pretty much has an unbroken skyline, kinda. I did take other photos but most were on other peoples camera or of nothing on mine. Why does this happen???

 Being all artistic - 21/01

What did I do on sat the 22nd of Jan? Sat around. Decided I should buy a cheap hat to wear at Big Day Out on Weds. Drove to Bondi Junction Westfields, still holds Aly's '#1 Worst Car park in Sydney' title, close second is Rhodes car park especially when trying to find IKEA pickup. Could not find a worthy hat. Started to drive home. Got a call from P. Went to her house. Tried to take a photo of a spider in the front yard and got what you see below. Nothing. It looks as though they grow corn in their front garden. Don't think they do though.

 Spiders (?) - 22/01

I have way to many clothes for someone who pretty much has the same items on heavy rotation. Bought some new coat hangers for those unused clothes which will hopefully entice to wear them and decided to re-do my wardrobe. Intending to throw stuff out but did not. I own a lot of pinks and heaps of dresses. Both I did not realise until I started to sort.

 Nothing changed - 23/01

I finally bought a new bedside table. I didn't want one with draws. Mainly because my old one was holding stuff I rarely use. Hair straightener??? Have had short hair for a year. Am thinking of growing it again... (tangent) The old one was a gift from my ex. Think I may of wanted/needed it. I did not, however, need nor want the Lazy Susan he gave me as an anniversary gift a few years later... romance.

Sup. Check out tha whiteness - 24/01

Hat was bought for Big Day Out from a cheap shop! Realised at about 930 at night that I would need a bag. Huzzah! I shall make one. I made a lined messenger style one strap bag. But with the strap was on either side thus stopping any would be thieves stealing all my important trinkets. This does work when then straps are put on correct. If a 'This is me wearing' photo is requesting suppose I could get to posing and put one up. Bag worked well and allowed me to create a minor dint in my sewing stash.

The straps are wrong... don't sew!!! - 25/01

Big Day Out was massive! I went on the Australia Day one. Heaps of bands seen. Nearly 3 litres of water downed before sunset. Four applications of sunscreen and still managed to get an unusual sunburn. Huge day. So big I an unable to summarise in a short sentence, or in a single photo.

The masses - 26/01

I really wanted to see Sia as I had heard that she will be taking some time off touring, confirmed the day after BDO. So I missed the start of Rammsteins set. Wish they were on separate times. Sia is quite funny, very chatty wish I could have stayed for more. We saw some fireworks which later found out it was to blast off the sheet fully covering Rammstein's stage. During Du Hast there were some more fireworks and flames and finally a giant canon shooting out white flakes which I understood to be a penis... Possibly one of the best sets I have ever seen and I only got half of it!

Flames are hard to photograph - 26/01

Netball. I stacked it. Major stack. Left ankle went both sides. Crunch. Crunch. Fell over onto knees. And elbows. And wrist. I felt OK. It hurt but I could stand on it. I am an arse. I also filled in for a friends team on Tues. Stacked it there too. It was an indoor court with floorboards, I'm used to cement. Managed to bruise my left front calf... what is that called???

That's a major lump on the right knee - 27/01

So, I went to work. It wasn't that bad when I went to bed. Bit of a pain to try and sleep. Sunburn on back from BDO, cuts on knees and a bruised elbow made finding an OK position crap. After a few hours standing at work I had to go home. Not a major sprain (I'm no Doctor though).
.
The film probably makes it look more dramatic - 28/01

New years resolution should have been to make posting regular. I still haven't made any. Anyone out in the interwebs have an interesting one to lend me while I try and figure one myself????

We Live In Your World

I lined up like every other sucker at Syd Fest for one of those fans. Kinda glad I did now. It is the only thing keeping me cool. It has got a creepy message telling from one of the big four banks. "We Live In Your World". It flashes. Makes me think they may be trying to use some sort of subliminal message technique.

Look into my eye and transfer all your money - 09/01

My life. Whoa. Ka.Raz.E. Hanging out my clothes and then BAM a gigantic spider flails its way down the clothesline to check out why I was messin' with his crib. This is a ghetto arachnid. He was somewhat large and when the outside sensor light went out I may of jumped around like and idiot to get the visuals back on. Tense moment hanging out my smalls. Like I said. It is all go go go.

 Raaarrr - 10/01

Hung my jeans out as I do prefer my clothes to be cleaned before I try and wear them again. This is not a photo of any old tatty cuffs in denim material. These are my most fav jeans. Possibly fav item of clothing (to be confirmed). I bought these jeans many a moon ago. Possibly six years ago... maybe. It is like fact central here tonight. I gave them to Sis for a few years where she placed them in her wardrobe where I could summon them as needed. Now there are no pockets (cotton wore out) and a real lack of cuff on the bottom. I have tried to search for a new pair of same make and size... will keep you posted.

Yeah, they are clean - 11/01

Beers! I was confined on the Central Coast for a few years and would regularly have to drive up Pacific Hwy. The Great Northern Hotel in Chatswood and think "That looks like a damn fine establishment". Went there and it is just that. Much polished wood and there is even a Deer's face above the fireplace. Must go back and tell tall tales from under said Deer.

 Beers - 12/01

I am not an alcoholic. I had a cider this arvo. I promise there is no need for intervention. It was only one cider. Met up with BB as she had just returned from an overseas jaunt and much hilarity and catch-up was to be had. Went to Ancient Briton. A place I thought I had been to before. It is weird. Looks average from the outside but inside is huge... there is a fish tank for a bar! We sat. We chatted. We borrowed a bridal book. I had my first Bulmers on tap. Good times. Trying to figure out how to take creative photos of pub catch-ups... thoughts?

 bricks.... - 13/01

Quite night. Spent most of the time organising my junk possessions. I had been making these paper cranes on and off for some time. Wow May! Finally finished them off and strung them up. All 500 of them. Proud much?? Just a little bit.

 Birds - 14/01

I.. ah... err... met up with another friend for a drink. I have not been working that much this week which has enabled me this 'relaxation' time. Short trip into the city to pick up Dr K. Having a drink to celebrate her trip to Costa Rica where she will do all kinds of charitable stuff. Then back to Uni to slug it out in final semester with moi.

We went to Coogee as the day was steamy and looked like it may rain and I'm lazy and find it difficult to go places at times without my car. First stop Oceans Bar. It was a bit of a drive from the city. Then on to Coogee Bay Hotel. Now here comes 'The List' portion of this blog....
Selina's - 15/01

Selina's has been on 'The List' as long as any of them have been. I will explain at a later time how The List came about. Selina's entered The List through a novel I read and may of (major claim) altered my life. The book is called Max and Murray. Sis bought it years ago on a trip to Sydney and I took it off her and then an old friend borrowed it off me and never returned it. I found the novel on Twitter. May be your best bet. Took me months to find a hard copy. Even then I only found it at Mogo on the south coast.

Gonna Take Polution Down To Zero

We start our week off with a Halloween Party! I went as Gi from Captain Planet. I think the costume confused a few people. One person got it without prompting. That's me on the left there. Dancing with my glow stick.

Birthday drink s for Mill at Ching-a-Lings on Oxford St. I had heard this place was quite easy to walk past. P said to call when I had arrived. I said I'm here but there the address is actually a spray tan salon. So Ching-a-Lings front signage is a Spray Tan salon.

Whats ya beef? - 31/10

It is one of Sydney's new 'exclusive' small bars which is probably why it is kinda difficult to find. Interiors were nice, pure black walls with  seating out on a terrace type area. Cosy couches, lighting made up of many caged light globes. I wasn't drinking because I had to drive. I had been told that the drinks there are minimal. Only a few varieties of each type of alcohol. I'd like to go back.

Came across a family of ducks at Uni. Just tried to find out what a family of ducks are called. No luck. I did find out that a male duck is called a drake! One of the big ducks, I'm going with Mum, ran at me. After that they ran away from me.

Drake and his crew - 01/11

Another riveting day in the life of Aly. Melbourne Cup. I didn't place a bet. Had not looked that much into it this year. I thought I would hang about at Uni to watch the race on the courtyard big screen. I had hoped for some enthusiastic jumping and whooping. Not so much.

The race that stops stuff - 02/11

Finishing up Uni for the year. A few more essays to go and then I am done. Finished. For a few months at least.

Puddin' and Nelly

Met up with P for a mid week run. Neither of us had dinner supplies so we joined our coin and made a feast! Followed by some pudding and ice-cream. P made dinner while I prepared the puddings.

 Gooey gooey goodness - 06/10

Random, saw this on a back of a van. I remember seeing something like this somewhere. Perhaps Tropic Thunder....? Never thought it to be real. Pimpjuice supplies you with 100% of your daily Vit C!

Where's Nelly at now? - 07/10

Never had birthday drinks before. Organised birthday drinks where people turn up because of me. Had a fantastic night. Started off at Madame Fling Flong in Newtown and ended up at a friend of a friends birthday house party.

Cheers to my birthday festival - 08/10

Met up with some of the fam who were in town for Breakfast on the Bridge on Sunday morning. Had a bite to eat at Darling Harbour and then watched some fireworks.

Fireworks - 09/10

Adieu, Adieu to you

Farewell drinks for a friend going back home to the Mother Country. I manage to nail 3 beers in 2 hours because of an early start.

Drinks and iPhone - 23/07

Drinks were in Paddington. I had tried to catch a bus down to Railway Square alas I could not and had to brave the rain. Bright side! I did call in to a bookshop (at 1030) to come across some postcards of an artists I quite like and flick through his new book. Artist is Mark Ryden, feel free to pool all your money and purchase his new book for my birthday (sept 22).

Postcards

Walking in rain is not so bad unless you have to decided to be all cool and stylish and wear ballet flats.

Running for the thrill of it

Birthday drinks for a friend in the city. Had a few drinks and watched the Aust game at a pub and hung about until nearly 4am. Pretty good effort considering.I had to work a few hours later.

Lights???? - 19/06

Didn't really take into account the trip home... not many cabs driving around Oxford St on a Sat night at 4am. Had to bust into an impromptu run all the way to Central to finally get one, not minding the running now. I was at a pub and may of had a few drinks so I can't really remember what this is suppose to be a photo of. Possibly one of my on the fly photos of something really quite important.

Let us drink the stars

I used to be quite scared to be driving about in the city. Not anymore though... I'm an adult who wears high heels and goes to the shops on my own and everything.

3 Wise Monkeys - 18/06

I had to drop some friends into Surry Hills and City for a raging night whilst I had a quite one at home. Work likes to completely ruin my weekend nights by rostering me on at 6am. Bitch.

Uni is cool, it makes you smart and stuff

Keepin' it brief, keepin' it real, keepin' it street... cause that's how I roll.
And, I'm sick of seeing dumbass spelling mistakes on previous posts, makes me feel like a fool. Write less means have to check less. What? find the spell check or just learn to write properly, whatever.

Have been pulling some awesome late shifts at uni recently, because I love it here. Hmmm, nah. Read the outline wrong and now an assignment that I thought was going to be sooo easy that I wouldn't have to start till the last minute cause it is only worth 20%. Turns out to be massive and worth 40%.

To top this off I lost my reading glasses. Now i sit in the library like a pirate reading with one eye shut. Forgetting a lot, misreading a lot. Went to doctor to ask
'is it usual to be having withdrawal affects from quit smoking for this long?'
"well, everyone is different" *said in a smug tone for maximum effect
'but isn't 3 months a little too long???'
Hope this will change I'd hate to think I'm going to be a dumbass for the rest of my life. Maybe I've always been this way and through my smoking I somehow managed to transform myself into someone with an awesome memory.... By smoking I mean cigarettes, just so you don't think I'm talking about crack or something. I'm not cool enough for that.

Back on track (I lose my train of thought now too, ramble more... my sentences in brackets get bigger. Is poor grammar a side effect of not smoking???)

Spooky spooky. Uni at night - 20/04

Another day at Uni. Crap, have never spent this amount of time here before. Maybe that is why I'm having to spend so much time here now. *reflections on past mistakes...

Drove to uni clearly cause I don't care about the environment and living and uni-ing so close to public transport still isn't convenient enough. And I listen to my iPod while I drive. Devious.

I downloaded some podcasts for my drive to Narrandera and my iPod likes to mix it up by changing the album artwork. This time I got 'Milkshake' from the groundbreaking album "Tasty" by the lyrical genius Kelis and the artwork of 'Stuff You Missed in History Class'. It is isn't the greatest podcast the other one 'Stuff You Should Know' is Better.

21/04 - iPod madness

Ooohh, I do wonder where I am???? Guess? Uni, aww yeah. I am currently still trapped in the confines of the building actually. Yeah 'writing' my essay. I sit here and thought "Why not just update the blog, you have some cool photos and the Internet is right there being all free, available and saucy. Use it up". I caved.

The stimulating library environment - 21/04

I'm lucky to even have a table. Got it at 5pm when most people have to find a power point and some carpet. I talk like it is a shoddy uni. There is a new library being built. Note the Lipton tea can there??? I bought that for a little pep. I don't drink soft drink, to fizzy for me. It's in a can though and I bought it from the vending machine. As it came hurtling down the caverns of the machine about to spill forth into the empty and unforgiving retrieving vessel, it occurred to me what would happen to this metal container filled with somewhat gaseous liquid. Alas, I was too late as smashed onto the metal underbelly of the vending machine.
No drama, just had to wait a bit.

Should stop writing crap here and continue to write crap on the ol assignment. What is it on I hear you ask...

PS I changed the screen before I took that photo, when I was about to take it I was really watching videos of the Fully Sick Rapper

Red and Yellow..

After work on Monday I went and had a drink with Ellie at The Oaks in Neutral Bay. Just the one, my work put me on a fantasic turn around which meant that I would be having very little sleep. Am glad I went for one anyway. We were going to have another but being a school night we thought better go home.

Light covers in the front bar - 22/03

Even though I only got home about 2 hours after I originally thought I would, I still sleep in. Oh Dickens!

Uni is becoming a little hectic. Dealing with a new job were I am treated like an idiot, uni which I am struggling to get a handle on and my others stuffs (blog and travel planning) has meant that I am not doing a lot of fun and interesting, informative things.

I ate an apple! - 23/03

Just found out that I taking my first "A Town" trip on my own. 6 and a half hours of the most boring drive in NSW on my own. I thought I enjoyed my own company but after 4 hours will prob go insane. Positives: I will get to pull over whenever I want and sing till I lose my voice. I suppose something else I am trying to do with all these trips and 'The List' stuff is to try and enjoy my own company and independence

Cryogenic whaaa!

Zeta at the Hilton in Sydney has been having this cocktail bar thing for the past few weeks. I have been there twice before and missed out on my Cryogenic cocktail twice. This time we got there early.

Woo Hoo! Had only wanted to stay for one drink with a busy day on the sat and much uni work to be done. There was so much on offer that we tried most thing. Firstly it was sorbet's, which were tasty but a little too sweet. A small cup was enough.

Then it was on o the fanciest of the 'drinks'. The nitrogen puffs. You pick your drink, mine was Pina Colada. They guy pours it into the bowl with liquid nitrogen and then done.

The Nitrogen Puffs - 19/-03

It felt kind of crunchy, like was it would be like to eat real thick snow (I would imagine anyway). I had the Pina Colada and although there was only a little bit of flavour there was still a creamy texture. It was worth the burnt tongue I had the rest of the night.
