Centennial Park on the only bit of sunniness (is that even a word) last weekend.
Made some 'scones' with P before going but they turned out more like flat discs of unbaked flour. OK to eat smothered in topping, CWA may need to review their recipes.
The idea was to go to the park and draw but I'm incompetent when it comes to do that stuff so I took photos of a bunch of flowers that I don't know the name of.
Top left is my drawing attempt....
Enticing the ducks with our breaded discs, weren't overly keen on it.
The swans were on it though. Took a bit of soaking to get them down. In trying to spread the goodness out I got one of the swans in the face and had a bit of a About A Boy moment, all swans left our presence in top health though.
P with one of the monuments. Should have some sort of plaque or something telling you who the individual deserving of such a lofty position is.
Kangaroos Paws, one of the few plants I could name.

Save Some For Me, It's What I Like
Firstly, really wish I did a better job of the Foo Fighters post. So many more people came over because of that post and when I read it back I realised how nonchalant I prob sounded. I think because I did have such an awesome time I thought I would sound like an idiot gushing so much. I had also spoken about it many many many times before I came to write the post. Bad form on my part.
Have been chugging along, not really taking many photos of late. My Internship is keeping me fairly busy. I'm with a reseach company and they do some market research with food stuff and why people do/don't like certain food. I managed to score a cheap box of corn flakes that was going to take me ages to get through.
So I made Honey Joys! Look at all that sugar. The only way A can stomach Corn Flakes.

When a Good Time Turns Around
Even though I am on my computer everyday I still find it much easier to only update the blog every few days. It also means that the less impressive photos go into a post with the nicer more thought out ones. Creates a better balance. All completely intentional and not at all to do with my increased laziness.
The Steve Irwin ride at Broadway has been replaced. *sad face* Never rode the old one and I have no intention of taking a whirl on this one. Find it slightly odd that they would replace a ride for kids with a character that most kids would not know. Wasn't Pink Panther a thief??? I am currently on the net but still too lazy to check that 'fact'.
Uni sucks. Period. Late night meandering around the campus. Library is conveniently located near the bar. So close that you can hear the uproarious good time mixed with awkward flirting.
The Netball team I filled in for last season won the grand final. I am now a full paying member and got a commemorative mug for being in the winning team. Alas, it was a tad windy and my mug was used a weight for the scoreboard and got a 'minor chip'. Note the bloody finger from when I thrust my hand in there to check on its condition.
The Silver Bullet has reached a momentous occasion! Clocked over 140 000Kms! Shoddily taken on my camera phone whilst at the lights. I have had this car for 7 years. It has helped me move to 9 houses. It may be on the way. It has a bag of coins in the right left wheel, sounds like a dishwasher, and a Duck living in the clutch. I will be sad when I have to say farewell...

My first Roller Derby bout. Sydney's Pistola Cholas took victory of Newcastle's Dockyard Dames. This was the last Sydney bout for the season and I wish I had seen more.
Pistola Chola Winnie Bruise looking for a break in the pack - 20/11
I am a big fan of the break when writing any sort of uni assignment, resets my thoughts and stops the rambles. It has to be some sort of productive break through. I made ANZAC biscuits. Little bit thick though and somewhat hard/crisp.

Double time, double time, all right. Show 'em what they like
Baking again. I made the carrot cake and wanted to use some banana that were near their end of time. I have a great banana bread recipe. Went to my recipe folder and there were two hand written (by me) recipes and the same stolen pad of paper, but slightly different. I made a bad call. It is way to banana-ry, that is possible, and very very dense. I altered it anyway because of dense factor as I was making it. Maybe I'll just make up my own next time.
Cake/bread - 07/05
Carrot cake as always turned out swimmingly. Will toast the banana bread I think. Must throw out that recipe.

Insane Asylum
Boi howdy have I been slack... again. Kinda have the excuse that it is because the internet is on a go slow. It takes ages to upload photos and even load pages. Sheesh.
Got my hair cut a little bit shorter. This time she mentioned having an undercut.... errrrr nah! Told her no dice. Apparently it does suit me. I have never had random people just compliment me before. Just random 'I like your hair' walks away.
Arrived a little early to the hairdressers which is on King St so I went for a walk. Saw this house which had a hand written sign in the front window 'Insane Asylum' it said. And a stack of VHS on the fence????
The Asylum - 13/04
Met up with Ellie at The Oaks again. She is off an an overseas posting for work and I am not doing anything as exciting as that. We actually went upstairs this time for a wander about. I nicked some lollies from the pokies room too. They were in a jar label free for guests, but it makes me feel devious to use the word 'nicked', makes it sound more dangerous.
Nice stairwell - 14/04
Hadn't seen Emma in what felt like an eon. I decided to bring a dessert. Em is lactose free. I like to make 'special' food for friends, I like to search to find something interesting and it also means that I have some limitations which helps in my planning. I finally found out what Ambrosia is and was going to make a vegan Chocolate and Avocado cake. What!! Yeah, didn't though. Used way to much avo for me to test on a friend it does look good though. In the end I settled on a Nanna dessert. High in fruit and texture, not too intense on flavour. I will make this again. Must learn to trust my instincts more often in cooking. I make this stuff knowing it won't work, but go along with it because it has been printed somewhere which must mean that it is truth... It needed more mixed spice in the cake, top was good. Would taste better with some ice-cream, custard or a yogurt I spose, basically needed some added wetness.

Weekend of party goodness
Some friends had a BBQ on Saturday afternoon. This is the second party of theirs I have been to and they have been generous with the supply of food and other party related things, so I thought I would bring something along, some related to the theme of the day... Barbecue!
Hamburger Cupcakes - 13/03
I have seen these on a few blogs, but I mainly used Bakerella as my inspiration. Sadly, I used a recipe for the cupcakes which I felt wasn't going to make the amount I wanted (need to trust instincts). The cupcakes ended up a little smaller then I originally wanted. I folded the napkins to go around the hamburgers, made the holders a little small so was kinda lucky the cupcakes were small. Also made 3 different colours of icing for the lettuce, cheese and tomato sauce. I am all about the theme.
Internal shot
A few friends are in a beach volleyball team so I went along to cheer and hang about at the beach for a bit. Nice down at Maroubra Beach. Nice clear water, squeeky sand and many rocks to climb about on.
Rocks with streaky bird shit - 14/03
Plane flying overhead
Plane flew over when I was sitting watching the games. It cut a line between the clouds, you can see the top of the net and a ball hurtling through the air. Still feel a bit weird taking photos of people when not in a normal photo taking situation.

Cakes to be cupped
I have uni two days a week 'early' in the morning. Meaning my class starts at 9am. If I want to get there on time and not have to fall through the door and get stink eye from lecturers and fellow growing minded people, I have to get up at 6 in the AM! Shocking really.
By the time my mid lecture break comes about my neck is lolling about like the bit of spine that connects my back to my head had evaporated.
To combat the embarrassment that I have decided that I am in need of some sort of pep.
Found a recipe for a walnut and coffee cake, pffffftt. Not going to bake a cake, that takes at least 45 earthly minutes. Cupcakes only take 20 which gives me much more time to regret the fact that I can't really freeze these things, and to also find the cocoa that I needed to make the other recipe that I really wanted to make.
Coffee and Walnut cupcakes better deliver on the wake-ness. First trial will be on Friday morn.
