The Wind Cries Mary

What's that? Been missing the dinner posts! Fear not. If I were to line up all my dinner posts I doubt I would be able to tell the difference. It's pretty much the same meal.

Same meal, slightly better photography - 13/10

I have short hair. Considering my hectic, mega busy lifestyle it is handy. Mile a minute is how my life is best described. I have a mega HUGE cowlick though. To combat this we (my hairdresser and I) decided to cut it shorter hoping it would do something that sounded good when I was slightly comatose in the chair after incredible lack of sleep. She also offered me a lollie (sugar) when I told how tired I was. After sucking on it she let me know it was in fact a prune lollie ?????? She must have seen my gagging face. Throughout the day all my efforts in taming the balcony go to waste. I could probably hide something under it.

It's hard taking a photo of the forehead - 14/10

Cloud Control gig was a gift from T. The gift was a ticket, not the show itself. Tried to not take many photos as I did want to enjoy it and The Metro has fairly shit lighting that I am yet to figure out how to photograph. Check them out if you can. Seekae were also there to get the crowds pumped. I was suitably enthused especially after their sampling of Super Mario Bros music.

Been a bit windy in Syd. People honestly loose their shit in this city when there is unseasonable weather. Admittedly 285km may be a bit of a reason to freak out. I was on the bus the other day when a slight smattering of rain started. Cue: people running straight into each other. Everyone look down and run there is water falling from the sky. Water falling from the sky, can you believe it???

Mary Mackillop became a Saint. I will readily admit my ignorance. I knew not much of this lady. I am not completely detached, I had heard her name bandied about. This was all to go down on Sunday. I finished work at 11 near North Sydney, her church is in North Sydney. The planets aligned and I knew I had to go. This point further hit home as Alexisonfire 'The Northern' came on my iPod as I rounded to corner and saw all the folk waiting to get their religion on.

It is not my intention to make light of this situation.

I had this idea as to what it would be like going to Mary's church. A place that she set up to help people, to educate people, to live and in the end she actually dies there. I did not think I would have to put up with people shoving and chanting protest slogans after having at a gate for 10 mins. They had to wait because Mass was still on. Hmmmm. Talked to a volunteer there by the name of Bette. She said she was a Joey's girl back in the day and left in '34. Odd to think Saint Mary had only just passed as Bette was coming to school age.

The museum there is informative and well put together. Learnt more about the Sister of Saint Joseph. After getting sick of the people I decided to hang about in the garden and listen to the singing. Took the plunge and actually took my camera off auto!

There was only two planting of the Mary Mackillop Rose in bloom. Apparently they only really come out in July.

My Mum used to make me tha coolest lunches! I remember a few times when kids would look in my lunch box and exclaim that I did indeed have a great lunch. Yeah, I am awesome. Ma used to get obscure treat things and chuck them in. I swear we got these once. Because of Halloween all these top treats are coming out.

I update on the book of face that there was a fog machine on sale at ALDI. Whoa, did people comment. I honestly did stand there for a moment debated the necessity of a fog machine. One litre of fog lasts for an hour. At $40 I think it is a bargain though.

How awesome am I that I was able to figure out a song that related to two parts of the post! Genius would not be an understatement

Sculptures by the lake

Messing about at Uni with the camera. Lovely day out so I decided to wait about and take some photos as the sun was going down. The lake is a big promotional tool for the Uni, they should promote the artworks and sculptures also. Mac Uni has one of the biggest University art collections in Australia... possibly the world. Most of the works are in storage though.

Who will take my picture

I finally got a new camera!!! Ma got it for me. I ended up going for the Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ8 instead of the TZ10. Mainly because it is the same camera except I wouldn't be paying an extra $100 for GPS inside the camera. Something I don't really need.

Check out the zooommm - 15/08

I am liking this camera more I look around in it. It has manual functions also, so I can learn more about photography and actually take my SLR off AUTO. Really quite excited about it.

Give Me The Reasons

Two buildings a moon and clear clear skies in Newtown. This could be one of my favourite photos. If I could get rid of the poster then I would like it much much more.

Aura??? - 06/08

I have decided to start to edit my photos... You thought these masterpieces were already edited right?? Nah, just my mad skillz with the ol' Optio.

I have not edited before because this is suppose to be about my days, what happened, what I did. If I alter the photo that is about that day then I don't think it would be a true representation. LIES!

These ones (above) are not about something I did or was involved in. I took these one because I like the look of the black and the yellow buildings with the sky and moon in the middle. So, I think I can edit these. Will have to learn how to use the program now. I think I have justified my lying ways.

Oh, happy day...

It's Ma's birthday soon. Frantaically looking for something exciting to get.

Hmmmm - 22/07

Can't reveal as I don't know if she is a regular reader. Did figure out how to take macro shots a bit better though. My camera does surprise me at times.

Its all a shambles.

ALWAYS remember batteries. A few times I went to take a photo only for it to crash. Why are the battery people sooo happy. Can only people that have children be happy with their photos? And who powers their computer/mouse with a battery?

Pffft, power - 20/05

GIR from Invader Zim. My friend Melo liked this show. Went and saw her in Canberra a few years ago and watched a massive amount of eps.

GIR, kickin it in Newtown - 21/05

My sister had her 30th birthday party on the 22nd. I forgot my camera at the party. Sat the 22nd was my 100th photo day. I took a few photos on her camera but did get any back. I did stop on the way down to take a photo of 100.

Technically not the 22nd. Only a few hours short though. - 22/05

EDIT: Just got a photo sent through of my sisters birthday cake. I did take this photo so this is my photo. I'd like to learn cake decorating, another thing to add to 'The List'.

I confess... next photo was not taken on this day. Yikes. Terribly sorry. Really tired. It's of Macquarie Lighthouse in Vaucluse. It was one of my 'on the fly' photos. I liked the blue and white contrast.

All a lie! - 24/05

Fell asleep at my comp today whilst writing my assignments. Did the ol' just resting my eyes thing. My screen is on 20min hibernation. My resting of eyes went for a while then.

soooo sleepy... - 25/05

There were other better ones of me but they didn't include the coffee cup, my increasingly large amount of paper cranes and Band of Brothers. War, or more appropriately based on true story films, help me sleep. Another goodie being JFK.

Can't wait for this semester to be over.

I've been slack...

Whoops, been a little busy neglectful.

Paste-up in Newtown - 24/03

Went to Soppho Books in Glebe to talk to my fellow 'Intimate Sphere ' course presenter for an assignment. I ordered a coffee (best I've had in ages) and... awwww.

How appropriate - 25/03

Speech done, and I'm outta here. On way to Narrandera which would be my base whilst taking in the festivities at Ardlethan Races. Drive was great. Loaded my iPod with 'Stuff You Should Know' podcasts. Also did the usual taking photos whilst driving. I don't get why my camera can take good photos while I'm driving 100Kph down the freeway, but gets a little blurry when I take a photo of someone kicking a ball???

Hume Highway, maybe near Gundagai - 26/03

And the big day came. My first 'A-Town'. Didn't take as many good photos as I had originally wished. Looking at the collection it would seem I was on my own, didn't take any photos really of the people I was with. Had a great day, didn't bet on anything. Checked out the fashion which was a mixed collection.

The only race I watched all of  - 27/03

After an epic day and night on Saturday my original plan to go to Adelong was put off till a later date. Had a lazy day on Sunday. Went and saw the Hankinson Memorial Fountain in Narrandera. It was made by Royal Doultan and given as a gift to the community as a memorial of those who dies in WW1. There is the same fountain in Karachi Pakistan

Top part of fountain - 28/03

Got back late on Sunday. Went to my cousins and finally took in Avatar at the picture theatre. Quite a good movie. Managed to keep my 3D glasses this time.

Lookin kewl - 29/03

Many missed opportunities to take photos and many that turned out blurry means that I won't really be going on any adventures to take photos any time soon, pointless. Lost many photos because of slow shutter speed and resolution. My camera still takes great still images, if the subject moves all comes undone.

My 'crappy' camera

Woah, been a little slack of late. Not taken any exciting photos anyway over the few days I missed. Walked out the backyard, which is a small cement area. The sun was shiny through and the plants/trees out there looked great. Was going to take some 'real' photos on my film SLR but thought I would continue to learn on my crappy 3 yr old digital

Even though the mega pixels are ancient, the battery says that it is dead even though they are new, it has been dropped and has pieces of casing rolling around it still works.

Tree veins - 16/03

Ooooo, light

My flatmate had a friends bring back some supposedly awesome cookies from New Zealand, I was offered one and thought it would be highly rude to turn down.  Rather large chunks, not overly sickenly chocolatey. It was the packaging that hooked me in though.
