Weekly rap up!

Went to 'Aunty' Chris' for a birthday dinner. Very nice Hadn't had a roast in many a moon. Chris even had a birthday cake with eveyones name in a twill... is that what a chocolate twirl thingo is called?

CAKE - 18/08

Still feeling rough. Can.Not. Be. Bothered. Who makes up these stoopid slogans? Or how does someone source these slogans? What would you type into google? This was on a shop window in Leichhardt.

The French... pfffttt - 19/08

Day before the big election. I decided to get in early and vote the day before... a few hours before uni. Not too much of a line up. Much flirting going on in the Marrickville polling booth. Sheesh.

My say - 20/08

Could not toss up between what the best thing of the day was. My vote or Basement Birds? Fantastic gig. I licked the banter between each other. Have always had a bit of a thing for Kev too.

Kev swigging his bottle

I went to Canberra on a whim on Sat morning. It was election day and we were in Canberra so we went to The National Tally Room. Highlights included listening to this guy in his Twisties jumper and beer in hand explain to two people, who couldn't really speak English, the differences between an Australian election and an Indian one???

AUSSIE! AUSSIE! AUSSIE! - 21/08

Three museums in one day. That's a lot of learning. First up was National Museum of Australia. Then Questacon with a final trip to The Mint. It has been years since I was at Questacon so they may have been the highlight. I really liked this photo of the sculpture out the front of National Museum.

Smooth - 22/08

It was a slow. Day. Super busy with my getting back late from Canb then work and uni. I food this poster in the bathrooms at Uni. Just a bit odd. I wonder if they have the same type in the guys?

Yes and No - 23/08

Determined to do more reading. Determined to have all my readings done well in advance.

Smarts - 24/08

First I will just stuff about with my camera.

Sculptures by the lake

Messing about at Uni with the camera. Lovely day out so I decided to wait about and take some photos as the sun was going down. The lake is a big promotional tool for the Uni, they should promote the artworks and sculptures also. Mac Uni has one of the biggest University art collections in Australia... possibly the world. Most of the works are in storage though.

I got a frog in my throat

Messing about with the functions on the camera. Not doing much else. Throat has been quite bad and I lost my voice on Friday. Doctor said it was Laryngitis. Not a crisis. Didn't think my throat would be this bad and it is still a bit weird to be hearing my voice sound so bad. Thought my voice would be getting better by now.

Who will take my picture

I finally got a new camera!!! Ma got it for me. I ended up going for the Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ8 instead of the TZ10. Mainly because it is the same camera except I wouldn't be paying an extra $100 for GPS inside the camera. Something I don't really need.

Check out the zooommm - 15/08

I am liking this camera more I look around in it. It has manual functions also, so I can learn more about photography and actually take my SLR off AUTO. Really quite excited about it.

Sweet Dreams

My cousin and his partner had their second baby last week. I was finally able to meet Emma. So cute and tiny. She makes little sighing noises as she sleeps.

Oh, Happy day

Looong day. Woke up 2am for work still feelin' the tickly throat. By the time I finished at 8am the voice was breaking. When I finished uni at 3 its was well on the way out. Throat still didn't hurt at all.

P's bday dinner and drinks were on and I thought all would be good. Didn't account for the fact that I wouldn't be able to speak to people and that those I did probably couldn't understand me.

Happy Birthday - 13/08

Ended up giving up at about 1130 and going home. Wish I could have stayed. Too hard to chat in a crowded noisy pub with no voice. Had been looking forward to the night for a while but couldn't push on. Dang!

Lazy day

Beginning to feel ill. Have a 'tickle' in my throat. Had a large tickle there last week and it has come and gone during the week.

City junk - 12/08

Really can't be bothered to do anything else with my day. Don't feel sick sick, just tired and a little lazy.

Londons calling

In Balmain for a few drinks at The London. I got to catch up with a uni friends who was travelling about the country (and overseas) through the Uni break.

It's a church - 11/08

Sometimes I just forget to take photos. Other times I don't want to interrupt the convo and pull out the camera. Today's photo doesn't exactly capture my most memorable moment of the day but it will remind me.

With your raincoat on

Rainy, rainy day in Sydney. Have to admire the insanity commitment of Window Washer Guy though.

Keeping it real - 10/08

He is not even doing it for the petition anymore.

Secret Squirrels

I'm knitting a scarf for a friends birthday it is my first 'pattern'. A friend who reads the blog on occasion.

Knits and purls - 09/08

Not really a pattern. I just changed the stitches so it would looks nice but not all pattern-y and old lady-ish. I think I am cutting it fine.

Would you like some ice-cream?

City 2 Surf! I didn't run, I did watch on looking for inspiration for my upcoming run though. After watch the three guys finish the 14km race and seeing the lines at Bondi Hotel we decided it was best to leave the suburb.

Rocky outcrop - 08/08

Brisk walk was what these guys needed after a 14km run. A walk to Coogee was agreed upon. Doubt many of us realised it was a 6km walk. I enjoyed it, then again I didn't do the run. The following beers and dinner were fantastic.

It's the last day on Earth

I met with my Street Team Captain for the Basement Birds promo thingo that I'm doing for their concert *Get there. Metro Aug 29th*. She was nice and we had a chat and I got my MASSIVE stack of flyers to hand out to folk.

Figured, "Hey, I'm already in the city and have already been awake for over 12 hours why not wander about for a bit". Got up at 4am this morn, currently it is 940pm... I AM STUFFED.

Went to Chinatown. I wanted to get some real Origami paper, got none. Realised It was 4pm and I was starving. Wandered about for awhile debating who I should chance. Decided. Went to pay and had to hand over ALL MY MONEY... I was still short (45 cents). Awww crap. She let me get away with it.

My last meal - 07/08

It was av-er-age. Those bits at the bottom are 'Mixed Vegetables', according to the label. My belly hurt after eating this too. Had the sudden realisation (after feelings of illness set in) that I had no money and would have to get money to get bus home which would mean having to by something to break a note. My life is full of this big moments.

Got distracted on way home (in Newtown now - I bought gum) in many bookstores looking at cards and books and other papered items so missed Roller Derby. Damn my simple mind. Found more books I want. A better one about Ryden, one of LaChappelle... the list continues.

Give Me The Reasons

Two buildings a moon and clear clear skies in Newtown. This could be one of my favourite photos. If I could get rid of the poster then I would like it much much more.

Aura??? - 06/08

I have decided to start to edit my photos... You thought these masterpieces were already edited right?? Nah, just my mad skillz with the ol' Optio.

I have not edited before because this is suppose to be about my days, what happened, what I did. If I alter the photo that is about that day then I don't think it would be a true representation. LIES!

These ones (above) are not about something I did or was involved in. I took these one because I like the look of the black and the yellow buildings with the sky and moon in the middle. So, I think I can edit these. Will have to learn how to use the program now. I think I have justified my lying ways.

Don't Stop Believing

The city has to many building and power lines to get clouds and sunsets. I was in Leichhardt getting some wares when I realised that I had not taken one.

A street light not a moon - 05/08

My camera died from lack of care, battery, after this.

Clear skies

Sydney's sky has been putting on a lovely show of late. On my way home from Uni I can take a few different paths. In the late arvo I do tend to take Annandale way. The church on main drag Annandale gets the nicest light on occasion.

Church - 04/08

Not the nicest here. Lack of traffic meant a swift drive home. To early in the day for the light also. Commendable effort.

Run, run, run

I run. In the pat few weeks I have been throwing myself around the street of Sydney. It's hard. I enjoy listening to music and going 'yeah, I just went all that way and that little time'. Motivation is hard cause I am doing it on my own mostly. Centennial Park put on a lovely arvo for me though.

Driving not running - 03/08

Wanted to take a few running shots but figured I should concentrate on the run rather then stuffed about with my music, run and take pictures. Maybe another time though.

Ssslleeepppp

First day back at uni. I had an early start and did my best but fell asleep when my lecture put a video on in the second half. Curses! The subject is a combination of sociology and art history so I am a bit keen and the video was about a Melbourne artist originally from Poland. Can't tell anymore then that cause I was for about 20 during the key moments.

Should of had this before... 02/08

The good coffee guy was in so I got a good coffee, a little bit empty but not burnt *bonus.

Gorn party like its ya birthday!

Ma's surprise 50th!!! In the end she said that she knew it was happening. Mum organises, is a big part of organising, many of the family gatherings. Maybe that is what tipped her off. That or me requesting 'special time' to hang out.

CAKE! - 01/08

She had a good party, many of Mum's 'crew' turned up for the afternoon for a BBQ and fancy cake.
