Manning Bar at Syd Uni for John Steel Singers and Dappled Cities.

John Steel Singers - 05/-06

Much awesome hair amongst The John Steel Singers. I saw them a few weeks ago at OAF with Philly Jays which was why I wanted to go to tonights gig. Great live.

Mainly went for JSS but it was Dappled Cities who were headlining. I had only really heard their Grandance CD and saw them at the Aust Day concert in The Rocks which was just before they were to go overseas for awhile. So, this was there return home/Zounds tour.

The super happy lead (or joint lead) singer had a pretty cool shirt on, until I saw the keyboard guy. He had a shirt with a Pomeranian on it!

They had a laser show which pleased the whacked out uni kids. Guy standing next to me was 'freakin out'. Rubbing his eyes and eating the air. Nut. 

Really liked this gig, can't believe it was over so quick. Highly recommended. Both will be playing Beach Road Hotel in Bondi on June 25th... get some! The warm-up peeps made me a little sleepy. Needed a bit more enthusiasm from them, nice voices and music but were that new breed of timid women bands which I don't really enjoy. Man up!

EDIT: in all my excitment at the possibility of seeing these two bands together I read the venues wrong. Yikes! I know my word can be taken as gospel at time but occasionally... rarely I do get it wrong. You *can* see them on the 25th of June if you are in Bryon Bay at the Beach Hotel. Not to be confused with the Beach Road Hotel in Bondi... somewhat like I did.

The Twist Inside That Love Entails

I am out of a routine with Uni being on holidays. Also, I work at stupidly early times and sleep badly so my days get all messed up. Don't really know what the day is until I check my email or my phone alarm goes off to alert me that I am suppose to be somewhere or doing something.

My life could be described at excitement central. Or, constant state of half-sleep/confusion.

John Steel Singers would have to be my stand out band of 2010! Prit-tay big claim I know. But I am all about making sweeping statements. For the record they have been bestowed with this highly sort after award for many reasons. Fantastic music, live performance, every member has 'glorious hair' and gosh darn they just seem like awesome guys. I am someone that wants (demands) a show *CUE jazz hands. I could just go home and listen to the album and imagine the live performance, but I pay extra money to see the interactions between band members and feel that collective joy of being in the crowd with others that agree that the band is worthy of our Earthly dollars. The crowd gave me the shits on this occasion though *shakes fist.

John Steel Singers are a band to be seen live. I do believe I have seen them three times this year *I am not a stalker*. This time they were headlining their own show. One which I was going to miss because of said highly important job with ridiculous hours. HARK! The universe had other plans and I got a joyous email from a OAF telling me that I had won a ticket and could go.

The Band was great (as expected). The crowd... hmmm. It was like being at a fucking Reunion. These people could not shut up for 40 minutes???? Firstly I was behind a couple who must of been on one of their first dates. Much slight touching, awkward chatting and standing a little close but not very close. I really don't like witnessing flirting. It doesn't make me feel uncomfortable but not in an awkward way, shits me would be the right phrase. Actually the right phrase would be me saying "get over yourself".  Cynic... me????

Chatty fuckers at a gig especially shit me because you (and I) have paid money to see these people do there thing, so watch it. Maybe I'm just so annoyed (disappointed) because they are such an awesome live band. Go forth and see them. Read their blog too.

The next few days... not so eventful.

Sign - 05/12

I want this sign. Seen in Newtown near my hairdressers. My Hairdresser has left me. Abandoned. Feelin' it because I have a mass of cowlicks and she has been the only one to conquer my mop and give me a reasonable amount of style with very little effort required by me. I'll be looking like a wild woman soon.

True Blood - 06/12

You can buy True Blood! Saw it at Dymocks. Debated about giving it to Sis as a shoddy Christmas gift. Maybe I will if I can't think of anything. Nothing says love like a cheap unusable reference to a TV show that we both enjoy.

I have taken my laptop to uni to use the Internet. The dropouts and slow speed got the better of me.

Quick update - I am suppose to be the typical mature age student (failing at that though) and be quite studious and up to date with my studies.... I'll be brief.

Awesome. Great Night I said it was going to be quick. Guess that just means I use more full stops.

My camera again shows its true colours and refuses to take a clear picture. Night goes on into the wee hours. I pike half way at approx 430AM. Which is kind of a normal night except I was going to have to work the next day. DA DAHHH!!! *spooky somewhat ominous music.  

MC Bad Genius showin us what he's got - 16/04

Early hours and I have little money for a cab all the way home. I get out a bit early. Ends up being a 20 min walk. Took a photo of the crossing sign to tell you to look for cars hurtling towards you. I read it as look right as in look correct. I wonder if I look/perceive things correctly. Little deep for 430AM????

Thoughts??? - Technically 17/04. It was 430AM and I was a little rough on Sat.

Saw this picnic set in a window in Newtown. It was a shop window not just any window. No price. The shop didn't even look open. My parents got one of these for some reason, some event. In lime green. Nothing same safe food at room temperature at a BBQ like lime green does. I confiscated it and put it into the trusting caring hands of my sister. Who lovingly looks after it for me. Interior is the same. Except I don't have the flasks and only one lunch box and only one of the locks closes properly. It is old. Thought these would be worth a mint. Ebay has only had one history listing and it didn't even go for $20.

Picnic King - 18/04

Uni is back. Awww crap! Didn't do nearly as much as I wanted to, or even should have. We have lovely grounds here at Macquarie Uni. When I got the acceptance pack it even mentioned at length how lovely the grounds were. Didn't mention a thing about the lack of computers, piss poor excuse for a library search engine, high fees, low parking.... but the grounds *sound of birds chirping. Seriously, I do like it here. It's a good uni. I'm doing pretty good here even if my spelling and grammar is crap. Usually I have spellcheck to pick me up on it (I have still lost my Blogspot spellcheck).

anyhoo,

Some sort of smoke signal was being sent to me over the park. I couldn't decipher it as I was getting confused by where the fountain stops and the smoke starts. They do burning off over there. Over there being the National Park place, which one... dunno. Get back to me. That's your homework.
