Its Alive!!!

Thursday night was 'Lighting of the Sails' which was the first night of the VIVID Festival. This year is all about Gov. Macquarie and the 200th Anniversary of Sydney's first 'power couple' (quoted from VIVID website!) Each building has theme and St Marys Cathedral was 'Designing The Nation'.

The good looking fellow himself - 27/05

Also lit up is The Mint, Sydney Library, Old Parliament House and Opera House. MCA wasn't included this year for some reason. All the building display pictures relating to different themes.

A dinner in Chinatown on Friday night and a walk through Chinatown markets can turn up some wonderful gifts. How about a Colonel Obama bucket for your tissues?

Secret herbs and spices included - 28/05

Missed uni yesterday because of a cracking headache so I made the trip in the rain to get more library books.
Mmmm Mother 29/05

Rain makes me a little sleepy too.

Also, the Window Washer Guy is being kicked from his post at Parra Rd & Johnston St. I signed his petition to keep him there. He goes all out with costumes and decorations.

Wet, wet, wet

I love driving my car when it rains. Especially heavy rain like today where my wipers go all the way to 3. The fact that I'm in such heavy rain and not getting wet is what I enjoy. Better on long trips though. Not like today where I had to go to uni and wander about it the crappy rain whilst getting soaked.

Leaves - 26/05

It was a heavy one. Reminds me of that scene from Ghostbusters where they are in the sewer and all the hate from NY makes the pink stuff grow.

Moving very very fast.

Maybe not so much. Am going to buy a new camera. I found an online place where I can get the one I want for $230 instead of the $400 retail. Too good to be true? The reviews of this place are pretty good though.

Its all a shambles.

ALWAYS remember batteries. A few times I went to take a photo only for it to crash. Why are the battery people sooo happy. Can only people that have children be happy with their photos? And who powers their computer/mouse with a battery?

Pffft, power - 20/05

GIR from Invader Zim. My friend Melo liked this show. Went and saw her in Canberra a few years ago and watched a massive amount of eps.

GIR, kickin it in Newtown - 21/05

My sister had her 30th birthday party on the 22nd. I forgot my camera at the party. Sat the 22nd was my 100th photo day. I took a few photos on her camera but did get any back. I did stop on the way down to take a photo of 100.

Technically not the 22nd. Only a few hours short though. - 22/05

EDIT: Just got a photo sent through of my sisters birthday cake. I did take this photo so this is my photo. I'd like to learn cake decorating, another thing to add to 'The List'.

Birthday Cake - 22/05

Helping my brother make an Italian flag for his school presentation.

Raphael - 23/05

I confess... next photo was not taken on this day. Yikes. Terribly sorry. Really tired. It's of Macquarie Lighthouse in Vaucluse. It was one of my 'on the fly' photos. I liked the blue and white contrast.

All a lie! - 24/05

Fell asleep at my comp today whilst writing my assignments. Did the ol' just resting my eyes thing. My screen is on 20min hibernation. My resting of eyes went for a while then.

soooo sleepy... - 25/05

There were other better ones of me but they didn't include the coffee cup, my increasingly large amount of paper cranes and Band of Brothers. War, or more appropriately based on true story films, help me sleep. Another goodie being JFK.

Can't wait for this semester to be over.

Sunshine

I took the long way back to my car from Uni today to have a look at the park and lake and other sorts of nature-y items. Parts of the Macq Uni grounds remind me of works from the Heidelberg School. One of my most disliked arts movements. I don't really enjoy 'typical' Australiana, to corny. I see why it is good, just don't make me spend time looking at it.

Autumnal leaves - 19/05

Massive shout-out also goes to loyal reader and awesome sister, Binna, on this her day of birth. To commemorate the occasion I thought it only fitting, considering she is a nurse, to show of how 'well' the burn is doing. Happy Birthday, now diagnose!

Worse after Chemist trip

Seemingly there is a conspiracy in the ranks of pharmacists across Sydney. Each time I have seen one they give me stuff and it gets worse. Today was a repeat of the day before, although different pharmacy. I was given a bandage which stuck to the burn and resulted in much gurning to remove it. Instead of having an isolated second degree burn I've decided to ring in the surrounding skin and rip that off too. I think me and the internet will take the treatment from here. Also, it seems the world is divided between cover and not cover. Between adding burn hydrating cream and 'letting it air'. Giving me the shits.

When heaven and Earth are hand in hand, thy will be done!!!!!!

Rainy day in Sydney today.

18/05

I hung about the house. Reading for essays not really doing much else. Rainy days remind me of home. I much prefer rainy and colder days then I do hot summer days.

I saw the writing on the wall

I'm noticing a lot more signs and written graffiti around Newtown lately. I went to the chemst on King St for my burn, it was getting a little funky and not the cool funky. On the way back in the space of a few metres I saw all these signs.

First one was on the side of 'Holy Sheet!'. They write these little quotes on the class door. Didn't inspire me to buy any new bedware.

 Holy Sheet! - 17/05

There a hand-written sign on the corner of King St at the coffee shop directing people to not litter because of how inconveinient it is to clean up. I didn't take a photo because it was meh. Then I saw this one. I wonder why there is this new trend of signs. And what are these people doing in the lane?

Laneways.

Directly over the road from the previous sign there is this new piece of graffiti. Maybe this is what the home owner is complaining about. I will start using 'boom' to start my sentences.

saucy minx

Chlidish people hang out in laneways disturbing homeowners whilst fucking other people's partners.

Lifelike and poseable, Hopeless and disposable

Finally gave up the ghost on the ol' touch lamp. I got that thing when I was, like, 16 maybe... from my Nan. It was handy. Middle of the night just slap the thing and it goes on, I'm lazy like that. Now I'll have to find the cord to get the button/clicker to turn it on. Sheesh, trials. The reason I got it was apart from not wanting to have crap from when I was 16 was it didn't have enough light anymore. Still haven't found my glasses, that could also be a part of my seeing woes.

Ahhhh! the light - 16/05

It's a bright one. New lamp with bulb that cost near as much as the lamp. That's a massive stack of books for my criminology essay and a few for my work culture research project and one lonely one for my criminology speech. I was using them, I stacked up the ones I'm not immediately using to cast a little light on the situation. In the back there is my stereo I also got in my teens.

To continue the boring ass dinner photos I have a curly one. I am sitting in my room heater on winter clothes and my dressing gown over the top. It's chilly is what I'm saying. So for dinner I had a cold pasta salad thing. Doesn't scream winter warmth.

Meh

At least I could let it sit a little when inspiration struck. I decided to catch up on Pacific before the guys deleted it from FOX. Always happen to watch gross stuff when eating. Man vs Wild is another one.

Satisfaction came in a chain reaction

CAUTION: Grotesque awesome images of how truly tuff I am. *flex.

I burnt my arm at work today. Shows how much of a hard worker I am. Scars are cool anyway, especially scars from a sandwich press.. RAWK!

10AM - 15/05

Got home from work 10AM and took the above photo thinking that that would be the end of the burn. It was quite bite-y though and I didn't have any bandages and the Internets told that I should have a bandage to stop the air from getting to it. Didn't say why air was bad but the Internets never lie so I put a sock on my arm... sound stoopid? More like laterel thininking, yeah. I did put some burn cream on it first.

6PM

Apparently the sock treatment is not the way to go. Actually, elastic pressure was possibly not the greatest idea, they can't all be winners though. It looks more intense in real life, still quite tender. I will have to wear 3/4 length sleeves so I can show people hard-core I am and tell strangers of the time I beat down a wolverine and all I got was this minor (but still hurt-y) burn. Check that blister...

Also, this is in a difficult place to photograph. Outer left forearm, which shows my commitment to my readers in informing them of highly important events. I near broke my arm trying to get a good one of the blister! This is also the first time I have had to take off my 'bracelet'. Wool stuck in my welting sore could have been painful.

We could forget how to make our way home

I went to Old Manly Boatshed tonight to see Mark Sholtez. He is in different genres depending on the place you look. Blues, Jazz, Lyrical (???), Pop... this guy does everything. I really liked his music and was surprised that I have never heard his stuff before. I don't really like Jazz and was initially weary. Great live and lovely fellows to boot.

Mark Sholtez - 14/05

$20 to get in, which I think is quite resonable. Got a little rowdy towards the end of his set too, much yelling and loud talking. I sound like an old women. I just prefer to be able to hear the music rather then the chatting from young punks (and not so young punks). He also did a cover of 'Sweet Child o' Mine' complete with Axel's snake dance.

Ellie was havin a chat to Mark whilst I got to fulfill my roadie dreams and mind the gear for Bruce (other guitarist). Segue. I have had a few strangers getting me to mind their shit while they go off and do things. It's a compliment to know I look trusting to mind your meal/bag/child(yes!)/guitar stuff but I don't know what I would do if some other person wanted to take your stuff - maybe I would be a little more protective over the child and guitar but I don't really care about your soft drink! It is also difficult when the owner stuffs about and takes longer to get back... do I stay and mind your crap like I said I would??? whats in it for me anyway? Didn't mind minding the guitars, felt like I was 'with the band'... cool factor increase.

I digress...

The gig was great. I will friend him on FB and he said there will be another tour around/after June when the new album comes out. You all should come along!!!! Maybe next time I will go a little closer to the city. Most people there were not there for the music and act accordingly which makes me shake my fist and turn into a grumbling old lady.

New single "We Could Get Lost" is also free on iTunes as single of the week, check it out. This song also appeals to my love of wandering.

Open up the mind and the beats go BAM

I had intended to go to Vampire Weekend with a friend tonight if I could get uni some more essays done. Alas, I did not. So I hung about the house tonight flailing about feeling sorry for myself and not really doing any uni.

I did have dinner though!! Yay me.

Dinner - 13/05

It was a lot more appertising then it appears. Those sausages are those fancy ass ones that look like they don't cook properly which makes me all paranoid. I will also be consuming the variant at uni tomo. Substituting sausage for tuna. Boi ain't I a fancy pants school kid.

Ooh, I have just finished the first season of Pushing Daisies. Love it. The Piemaker is the love of my life. Will make next season a lot harder to watch knowing there will be no more      ; (    *that's a tear too.

Five assignments in two and a half weeks... can it be done with my sanity in tact???

I'm takin it back to the old school, cause I'm an old fool who's so cool

I like to walk around the supermarket if I have time and see whats new. My life is full of adventures. I like the lollies and the Dutch and foreign packaging. Why does Coles have a large Dutch section in all the stores I have been to? Does Sydney have a large Dutch population I wasn't aware of???

FADS... used to be FAGS. They fall under the category of 'pool food' for me. 'Pool food' being the lollies only on sale at the town pool. Also includes 'fun dips' and 'killer pythons'.

FADS - 12/05

original (politically incorrect) packaging

We used to be cool and pretend to smoke with these. No more red tips just plain ol' yellow (???). Had a few and now am feeling a little tummy ache... may have had all of them. How did I eat them and then and then throw myself around the pool.

Winter's cold is to much to handle

I was in Canberra Saturday night for the Groovin The Moo concert which was on Sunday. I was introduced to Chat Roulette and after many weirdos we 'met' this guy and his mate. Antonio from Spain, told him I would add him on FB am yet to do that.

Taking a photo of Antonio and I - 08/05

Groovin The Moo at University of Canberra was a chillsome affair. Started the day with Jonathan Boulet, third time and it feels like I'm stalking. They were a hit with the underage set (many orange wristbands) and the lay-deez did go a little wild when Jono danced and lifted his guitar. They had an extra drummer who I thought was in Sherlock's Daughter but can't confirm. Great set and was better received than the Surry Hills Festival set a few weeks ago.

Blondes not welcome it would seem - 09/05

The whole day was great. Got fairly pushy after Tegan and Sara for some reason??? I was going to miss Miami Horror because I don't really know their stuff but others wanted to see them and I had a tip that they were pretty good.

Multi-tasking Miami Horror singer

Concert was on a Sunday and there was an epic drive back to Sydney afterwards. Getting back late and having an early start on Mon meant that I didn't do anything really on Monday. This is some fabric that Nan gave me. I like it but think the print it to large for clothing, I think it will have to be a blanket. Have had it for 2 years and still can't cut into it.

Swans??? - 10/05

Completely unintentional... I decided to take a photo of all the cranes I have been making today. I cut my hand today at work. Dropped a cup and caught it as it smashed. That was waaayyy to boring to post. At least this is something I have been working on. It also gave me ideas for trying to take staged photos.

Paper Cranes - 11/05

Goes well with Nan's fabric. There are not that many I guess. I have them sitting on my stereo speaker and I fold some when I want a break from writing and studying. Thinking about your wish whilst making them and reaching 1000 apparently makes it come true. I don't think that works if the wish is 'do well at uni'.

Double time, double time, all right. Show 'em what they like

Baking again. I made the carrot cake and wanted to use some banana that were near their end of time. I have a great banana bread recipe. Went to my recipe folder and there were two hand written (by me) recipes and the same stolen pad of paper, but slightly different. I made a bad call. It is way to banana-ry, that is possible, and very very dense. I altered it anyway because of dense factor as I was making it. Maybe I'll just make up my own next time.

Cake/bread - 07/05

Carrot cake as always turned out swimmingly. Will toast the banana bread I think. Must throw out that recipe.

Like my loafers, former gophers

I threw out my old cons probably about 2 years ago. I bought them about 12 years ago... I got them when I went to see silverchair at the Canberra Exhibition Centre when I was in Yr 9. Sheesh 10 years is a long time to have a pair of shoes. They were green hi-tops and I didn't wear them the whole time I owned them. Probably stopped end of high school.

New Shoes! -  06/05

These ones feel better, the old ones soles were too thin I think. These ones not so snug or rubby on the sides. I love the color too.

Took my new shoes out for a spin. Went into city to try and get new iPod earphones... no dice. Went back home and wandered about. I have read and seen pictures or all this awesome graffiti in Newtown and surrounds. I never see it, I assumed it would be taken down/scrubbed off.

Mish mash of stencils

This was a wall full of different stencils and a few major drawings. Interesting. I liked this guy putting the swastika in the bin whilst his mate clubs something. It reminds me of some of Banksy's work. Banksy has a film coming out. Don't know if it is him but his name has been attached. Don't know when it will arrive here.

You might not ever get rich, but let me tell ya it's better than diggin' a ditch

The elusive Window Washer Guy! Finally stopped at the traffic light at Parramatta Rd and Johnston St and was able to have my window washed by him. Took a photo of him doing it and he said you want a photo? and posed. I only had a small amount of shrapnel and gave that over. He scoffed and my pittance until he realised there was a dollar coin in there. Window Washer Guy was a nice jovial homeless man in my imagination.

Poser. He has been getting more dressed up recently - 04/05

More driving. Another photo taken whilst I drive. I am enjoying the taking of photos on the fly.

ANZAC Bridge - 05/05

I'm finally listening to some Sigur Ros. I have heard about them from various places and only just remembered to look them up, very nice sweet music.

Turned on some music to start my day, I lost myself in a familiar song

My week in photos... I ate and that was pretty much it.

A shop in Stanmore has found that extra few hours in a week.

27/04

Dinner Roast Pumpkin, Brown Lentils and Ricotta... will make again (already did actually).

I don't like ricotta, a 'nothing' cheese. A different brand maybe? - 28/04

Using up my leftover Sultana Bran. Did not keep well, make again with nothing on top.

Extra sultanas added that blew up to grapes - 29/04

Newtown station and a bands steals electricity. A guy is milling about as lookout I assume.

funk style band - 30/04

The Al Pitcher Picture Show. Takes daily photos of the town he is in and uses that for his comedy show. Highly recommended. Got a weird look from ticket man who was confused by my one ticket????

 at The Factory - 01/05

I got 'rookie of the month'. Haven't pick up my prize as yet. I think I just get a certificate. Pretty impressive considering a lot of people I have talked have only been there a month and I broke the dishwasher last week.

Other names crossed out as I signed a form not to blog about my work with the company - 02/05

Sunset in Vaucluse - 02/05

Major headache. Felt really rundown so didn't go into uni. Headache got progressively worse so couldn't do what I had planned which was knitting and uni work. Instead I watched DVDs and felt threw myself about my bed feeling sorry for myself. Pushing Daises is hilarious.

Knitting whilst watching a doco on Tupac and Biggie will have to wait - 03/05
